“Hey Bronney how much you charge for pre-wedding sessions?”

“Meh, for you? Free? How’s free?”

“Sure.”

That was way more than I bargained for as the shoot took 3 separate days that spanned 6 months. But the result and the satisfaction more than paid for itself as the team was *bleep* awesome. To top that, Tania is so beautiful and such a natural born model that made the whole shoot easy. More than easy I’d say, it’s like she took me to modelling school and showed me what a posing bride should look like. So yeah, I call it even

In contrast, it was a little challenging to shoot the groom but since he always had Tania next to him, it made the shots more delightful. Van did have his rare moments of manly man if you’re lucky enough to catch it.

When they asked me to shoot their wedding day though, I did charge for it hehehe so everything’s good

I told this story to a couple of my friends, they asked. Hey Bronney shooting wedding is such hard work, do you like it? I don’t like it, I LOVE it!  Why?  And I told them this story…

At the end of the searing summer night in Hua Hin, both of their parents came shook my blistered creamy hands and said, “Bronney, thank you so much for all the hard work today.” 4 times.  I never know what to say when people say that to me.  Though I guess my sweaty smile gave them a heart-warming thanks, it was my first time knowing what to say straight from my heart, “no thank YOU, for letting me do this.  I love it.”  You know, I meant to say I love you but it would make it really weird, no?

So yeah, thank you Janet for asking me to come along and booking me that nice corner suite.  Thank you Justin for showing me what a lovely aqua tie can do to photos.  And thank you everyone else for making this wedding sweaty, spicy, showery then sunny~  Thank you all for making this, Thai.

Let me put it this way.

I wasn’t shooting weddings when Vivian asked me to shoot her wedding 2 years ago. Can you believe it? She and hubby planned this day for 2 years and if you viewed “the making of” this, you definitely will appreciate every single bit of detail they put into this date.

Everything from sealing each invite with wax, down to table decorations are hand made, with love from the families. On my way out, I saw strangers that weren’t invited to the wedding, standing outside reading their tunnel of love photos saying, “omg, this is awesome!”

When Vivian cried in the video, I almost cried too. Rachel Lee, a dear friend of her which I had the honor to sit beside, burst into tears. It’s very hard to keep non-emotional when shooting her big day. And of course, that last dance tops it off for a nice dessert

So here’s to you two love birds, have a great future and lots of kids! *muah* <– for Alan too haha.

Ok you win. These guys got Donald Tsang to come to their wedding. You should’ve seen the number of flashes spiked the moment he walked in. But that’s not what’s cool that night…

Again, shooting weddings always makes me smile. Mostly from the nice music and atmosphere and every single time, the fathers ALWAYS makes the best speeches. I think it’s a father thing, but every time they give the most loving, funny, descriptive, caring, observant, grand, and witty speech. It seriously interferes with my shooting when I laughed out loud.

Fiona and Jason? Meh, who cares, She’s sexy hot, and He, looks like a celeb hehe.. just the usual right?

Guys guys guys, thank so much for having me as part of your big day. Really loved it. Especially when your uncles didn’t recognize me and shocked to find out woah! It’s bronney!!! hahaha. Yes it’s me. I was thrilled to have been there and to see your smiles. My parents smile wasn’t too bad either.

Hope you guys enjoy the photos as they will be with you forever. Oh! Don’t forget the babies!! make babies and let uncle bronney shoot them too! Get to work!

Usually, people ask me to shoot their wedding. But Rachel and Ser Young’s wedding was the one I ask first. I used to work with the bride when she’s still all pink cheeked fresh out of college and could never imagined her all gowned up. This shoot though, I flew all the way to Kuala Lumpur to do it. What strikes me most wasn’t just the way they look so good together, but the love Ser Young put into their wedding logo. When I got their invitation, I was touched by the logo and looked forward to being there, at last.

It was my first time in KL and sure wasn’t disappointed by the vibrant nature of the different cultures and people. To see the love birds have fun with real-time internet wedding broadcast and their parents in tears, was well worth the free upgrade to business class I got flying there

Did a photo shoot for Michael Denee’s men’s wear down in Central.  Quite a creative concept from Alex to have a band featuring the suits.  The place was total darkness with black walls and ceilings.  Not the best to bounce your flash but the High ISO performance of the Nikon D700 is just nutty.

This is where you see the difference between an APS-C and a FX.

Finally finished my first wedding shoot.  It was a lot of fun and every time Lindsey and Peter thanked me I kept telling them the pleasure was mine.  It was really lovely shooting people in love.  Flowers are pretty, but when these people outshine the brightest flowers in the whole garden, you know something’s up.

When we were out shooting, there were other photographers doing their job too and we each gave a nod and checked out each others’ gears of course.  In fact, when we’re just about to head into the cave to take that kissing shot, a group just came out and the shooter told me, “it’s your shift buddy.”  That was cool.

Can’t wait till the next one

Many people say, “hey! it’s all fine and dandy to shoot for fun but once you start this for work, you’ll hate it..”  Most of these people, of course, don’t do whatever you’re gonna do for work and of course then, there’s no reason I listen to these noise.  There are also those who says, “hey! look at me!  I used to like shooting, but not anymore because I started charging money for it..”  If one thing I learned from my major, it was that there are ALWAYS people telling you no, and there are always people telling you yes.

Until you try this yourself, you’ll never know how it is going to be, for YOU.  And isn’t that what life is about?  Live life, talk when you’re 60.

Oh, thank you so much Lindsey & Peter, for letting me shoot your wedding.  I am enjoying it so far.
